First calligraphy piece for 2026

In Japan, there is the practice of kakizome 書き初め, where you write some calligraphy piece at the start of the new year. This is my piece for 2026.

 

This is the year of the horse and that is why this piece starts with the character for horse 馬. 

First snow of 2026

I didn't expect it would snow so early in 2026, but it did.

 

It only snowed for a couple of hours so the snow did not accumulate, but it was still quite a bit of snow while it lasted.
